How many years have the Mutoids been inventing and performing pyrotechnic shows? Since the 1980s… They first came to us in 2010 as Mutoid Waste Company for the 20th edition of the festival, “setting fire” to the riverbed of the Bidente, which was not yet a river park, with a breathtaking performance. They also created a giant double X to celebrate the festival’s 20th edition, then set it on fire with flamethrowers: EVENTI DIVERSI (“Different Events”) was the subtitle of that thrilling edition. They return in 2024 in a completely different form…

Games With Flames was born in 2018 at Mutonia, bringing together various artists, both from MWC (Mutoid Waste Company) and other collectives, united by a passion for iron, fire, and recycling. A constantly evolving “team,” both in its members and in its shows and projects, always researching behind every single performance. This inevitably leads them to explore new worlds, reinventing stories, costumes, and objects.

“CHINESE GANG”

This year, which in the Chinese calendar is the Year of the Snake, the crew draws inspiration from the characters and stories of Beijing opera, reinterpreting them with their unmistakable style. Costumes and music also show the same elaboration, taking cues from that world while reinventing it with a particular stylistic flair. Tradition and New Vision combined with the indispensable magic of fire.
