Nubras is a one-of-a-kind international ensemble, widely recognized for its exceptional ability to blend the elegance of chamber music with the raw, earthy sounds of Southern Italian and Balkan folk traditions.

The project brings together musicians from Italy, Spain, and Romania, creating a sound experience that intertwines tradition and innovation in a borderless musical dialogue.

At the heart of Nubras lies a string trio, embodying classical sophistication, which seamlessly integrates with the pulsating rhythms and melodies of Nino Conte’s accordion and Giorgio Gadotti’s sax and gajda, evoking the vibrant sounds of the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe.

The powerful voice of Roxana Ene — an Italian-Romanian artist of Romani origin and long-time collaborator of Moni Ovadia — brings depth and authenticity to the ensemble. Completing the group is Giovanni Lo Cascio, a legendary figure in Italian world music, whose percussive energy and virtuosity add unstoppable drive to the performance.

This extraordinary fusion makes Nubras a unique musical experience in the Italian scene, captivating audiences of all kinds — from prestigious theatres to contemporary venues.

In just two years, the band has played over 100 concerts across Italy and abroad, establishing itself as one of the most exciting acts in Italy’s world music landscape. In March 2025, the ensemble has been invited to perform at the Chigiana Academy of Siena, one of the most renowned institutions for emerging musical talent for nearly a century.
